FREE SHIFT CHECKER
Check a shift, from start to finish.
Crossing midnight should not make your hours harder to understand. Enter the actual dates and times, subtract unpaid breaks and see how the illustrative daily pay bands add up.
What this example includes
One continuous shift, less unpaid breaks, using the same simple daily model as our pay calculator: the first 8 paid hours at the hourly wage, the next 2 at 1.5 times the wage and the remainder at twice the wage. Each row includes its base pay.
This is not a full payroll calculation. It excludes night, evening, Sunday and public-holiday supplements, weekly overtime, travel, allowances, deductions and employer-specific rounding. Your agreement and working-time arrangement determine which rules actually apply.

Your shift example
Tuesday into Wednesday: one shift
Start Tuesday 6 October 2026 at 09:00 and finish Wednesday at 01:00. With no unpaid break, that is 16 paid hours. At €18/hour, this model gives €144 + €54 + €216 = €414 gross. All 16 hours are shown under Tuesday’s start date.
Grouping the shift under Tuesday helps you read your history. It does not change the actual dates or move Wednesday’s calendar-time supplements into Tuesday. This public example does not calculate those supplements.
Why breaks change the pay bands
09:00–21:00 is 12 elapsed hours. After a 30-minute unpaid break, 11 hours 30 minutes remain: 8 regular hours, 2 hours at 150% and 1 hour 30 minutes at 200%. At €18/hour the result is €252 under this model.
What happens when clocks change?
We calculate elapsed time in Europe/Helsinki. A shift that crosses the spring clock change can be one hour shorter than the clock readings suggest; an autumn shift can be one hour longer. If a start or finish time itself is skipped or repeated, the checker asks you to use an unambiguous time instead of guessing.
